AI calorie and macro tracker

Getting healthy
starts with one photo.

New to dieting or deep into macro counting, the first step is the same. Photograph chicken rice, cai fan or your mum's rendang and TabetAI reads it: every ingredient, every macro, even sugar, sodium and glycemic index. A Balance Score grades your whole day and never rewards eating less. Your calorie and protein targets stay yours to set.

Get it on Google Play Download on the App Store

Free to start: 3 AI meal scans a day (a multi-angle scan counts as two), no card, no trial countdown.

Three steps

Logging a meal takes seconds

There's no food database to search and no serving sizes to guess.

Scan a meal: tabs for the food itself, the printed nutrition label, or a barcode
1

Snap

Photograph your plate from one to four angles. Packaged food logs by barcode, and when a product isn't in any database you shoot the printed nutrition label instead.

Per-ingredient estimate: braised pork belly split into six ingredients, each with its own portion, macros and score
2

Review

Every ingredient gets its own macros, portion and even a glycemic read. Tweak amounts, split items, or re-analyze with a note.

Track

Your ring, macros, streak and missions update instantly, and your companion has something to say about it.

Your coach has a face

Someone who notices you showed up

Your coach has a face, a name and a voice. They learn yours, react to what you ate, and get warmer the longer you stay. Nobody lectures you and nothing turns red; they're just glad you logged lunch. And if you're just here for the numbers: the tracker stands on its own. The companion never gates a feature or a stat.

Reina's companion page: full art, her voice line, and your bond progress

Their own page

Tap them and they answer in their own voice. Full-body art, your history together, and a card you can share.

The bond ladder: your companion warms up the longer you log

Warmer the longer you stay

They learn your name, cheer in their colors, and get warmer the longer you stay. Rank up the bond and the app starts feeling like theirs and yours.

The gift shelf: spend Tabegems on gifts your companion loves

Gifts they'll remember

Spend the Tabegems you earn from healthy habits on a small gift. Every companion has secret favorites. Find theirs and they'll remember it.

Track together

Make it a team sport

Almost every calorie app is something you do alone. TabetAI lets couples, families and friends do it together: see each other's meals, log side by side, and notice when someone goes quiet. Add the weekly leaderboard that ranks effort (never weight), and week three stops being the week people quit.

Group tracking: see what everyone ate and copy a meal into your own log

Log together, stay honest

See what everyone in your group ate, copy a dish, or a single ingredient, into your own log at the right portion, and keep each other on track.

Daily and weekly missions and a fresh weekly leaderboard

A fresh race every week

Missions turn logging, protein and steps into XP. Your XP drives friend leaderboards that reset every Monday (ranked on effort, never weight), plus a private “top % of all players” and a weekly reward.

Targets that move

Coaching that adapts to your real life

Your budget moves with your steps and your weight trend, the evening recap sounds like your coach, and when you've run out of ideas it has some.

Adaptive targets: trend weight, a learned maintenance figure and a budget that follows your real activity

Targets that adapt

Your weight is noisy, so TabetAI grades the trend, not the number. Daily weigh-ins smooth into a trend line, your budget adapts from that trend plus your real steps and workouts, and if you track your cycle the chart marks your water-retention window. The projections use peer-reviewed energy-balance modeling, not the old 3,500-calorie rule.

The evening recap: your day summarized in your companion's voice with an AI note

An evening recap, in their voice

Every day ends with your numbers, an AI note on what happened, and your companion's take on it.

Food and movement, D to S

The Balance Score: your whole day in one grade

Calories are one line of the story. TabetAI rolls your calories, protein, fiber, added sugar, salt and your movement into one end-of-day grade, with the receipts to show why.

The Balance Score detail sheet: an A/82 day with a breakdown grading fiber, sodium, calories, protein, sugar, saturated fat and glycemic load, each against its own target

Can't be gamed

The score can never be gamed by eating less: under-eat and it caps low. It grades balance and effort. Restriction doesn't move it, and neither does your weight.

It tells you what to fix

Every line in the breakdown carries its own tip: more fiber here, easier on the salt there. Whole fruit never counts against you; only added sugar does.

Fair at breakfast, final at night

The live score paces itself through the day, so a light morning never nags. At day's end it locks. Yesterday's grade is yours for good.

Targets you can check: fiber follows The Lancet's 2019 meta-analysis, free sugar the WHO guideline, saturated fat the American Heart Association's 2017 advisory, and movement the WHO 2020 activity guidelines.

And everything else

A serious calorie and macro tracker underneath

Micronutrients, per-ingredient breakdowns and full data export, with the AI doing the tedious part.

Favorites, recipes, routines

Save the meals you repeat, build recipes that break into real ingredients, and log a regular lunch in two taps.

Beyond calories

Fiber, sugar, saturated fat and sodium with targets drawn from WHO and American Heart Association guidance, plus an opt-in estimated glycemic index for carb quality at a glance. Scan a nutrition label or a barcode and the full vitamin and mineral panel, potassium, iron, B12, vitamin D and more, totals for the day against daily values.

Workouts that meet you at your level

Pick a beginner-friendly plan, including 15-minute home sessions with no equipment, and the guided player counts your sets and your rest. Beginners get plain words, experienced lifters get the jargon and personal bests.

Lose, maintain or gain

Pick your goal and the whole app follows: cut, bulk or hold steady, with Health Connect activity feeding your budget.

Plan your week

Plan meals up to a week ahead, save repeatable routines, copy a good day, and let the AI fill the gap in your remaining budget.

Streaks with a safety net

Build a daily streak with milestone rewards, plus streak freezes that auto-cover an off day. No guilt attached.

Quick add for real life

In a rush? Snap and go. The AI finishes in the background and the meal lands in your log by itself. You can even leave the app.

No photo? Describe it

Type or dictate what you ate and the AI builds the same per-ingredient breakdown. Great for home cooking and half-remembered lunches.

On your home screen

A home-screen widget keeps calories left, your macros and your Balance Score one glance away, with your bonded companion featured right on it. (Android today; the iOS widget is coming.)

A score for every food

Beyond the daily grade, each food gets its own Food Score at the serving you pick. See what to eat more of, and what to go easy on.

Your cycle, on your phone only

Optional period tracking puts weight in context: water retention before your period can add 1–3 kg on the scale. It's not fat, and it goes back down. The chart marks the window so a jump reads as physiology, not failure. Cycle data never leaves your device: not to our servers, not to cloud backup, never to the AI. If any code ever tries to send it, our test suite fails the build.

Fully yours, in your language

English, 日本語, 简体中文, 繁體中文: the app, the AI results and your companion's voice. Cloud backup keeps your diary across devices: everything except your cycle log, which stays on your phone by design.

TABETAI EX

Your own AI nutrition coach

Everything in TabetAI, plus 15 AI scans a day and the full coaching suite, for people who want the app to do the thinking.

15 AI scans a day

More than three meals and a supper, with our best model on every first scan. Want more? Optional rewarded ads top you up.

“What should I eat?”

AI meal ideas that fit the calories and protein you have left today, at home or from spots near you.

Scan a restaurant menu

Photograph any menu and get the dishes that fit your goals, before you order.

Weekly AI report

A written insight on your week: what worked, what slipped, and one thing to try next week.

Companion food tips

Your companion flags notable items as you scan (a smart swap, a protein win) in their own voice, weighed against your day.

Glycemic load

Beyond the glycemic index: see the estimated glycemic load of your actual portion, per meal and per ingredient.

TABETAI MAX

Talk with your companion

Until now you've been the one talking. On MAX, your companion answers.

Real conversations

Ask what to eat, debrief your day, or just talk. They sound like themselves, know your numbers, and remember what you told them yesterday.

Snap and ask

Send a photo mid-decision (“should I eat this?”) and get a warm read against your day; the call is still yours.

Speak, log, done

Dictate instead of typing, log a meal straight from the conversation, and open chat from a floating bubble on your home screen. Unlimited conversations.

What leaves your phone

Where your data goes

Health data stays on your phone

Your Health Connect data never leaves your phone. Steps, weight, body fat: read on the phone, and that's where they stay. We don't upload them, sell them, or train on them.

Your cycle log never syncs

Meal photos: the trade

Meal photos DO go to our servers for analysis, and may be used to improve our food models and in de-identified datasets we license or sell. Typed meals fall under the same licence, so today the only complete opt-out is bringing your own Anthropic API key in Developer mode (an EX feature); a one-switch opt-out is on our list. Questions

Good to know

What is TabetAI?

TabetAI is an AI calorie and macro tracker. Photograph chicken rice, cai fan or whatever's in front of you and it estimates calories, protein, carbs and fat ingredient by ingredient: no database to search, no serving sizes to guess, and the local dishes whose database entries elsewhere are forty strangers' guesses log in seconds, straight from the plate. On top of the diary you get a Balance Score for the whole day, targets that adapt to your real activity, and a companion who keeps you company while you log.

What are the companions?

Coaches with a voice of their own. They learn your name, react to what you ate, cheer in their colors and get warmer the longer you stay. Rank up the bond and the app starts feeling like theirs and yours. Your bond and history live in your account. And if you're just here for the numbers, the tracker stands on its own: the companion never gates a feature or a stat.

Can I compete with friends?

Yes. Friends and group leaderboards rank the XP everyone earned this week and reset every Monday, so it's always a fresh race. You also see privately what top percentage of all active players you're in, and claim a weekly reward for your finish. TabetAI never ranks anyone on weight lost, only on healthy effort.

How accurate are the estimates?

Good enough to steer by, not a lab measurement. Single, clearly visible foods land closest; mixed, sauced or fried dishes are harder: nobody can see the oil. Every estimate carries a confidence rating and any portion is correctable in two taps. What moves your weight is the trend across weeks, and a consistent estimate tracks that well. If you need gram-level precision, weigh your food; TabetAI will take the numbers.

Can I scan barcodes?

Yes. Scan the barcode on your yoghurt or protein powder and it logs in one tap. When a product isn't in any database (common in this region), photograph the printed nutrition label instead and TabetAI reads the manufacturer's own numbers. No barcode, no label? Just photograph the food.

Can I set my own calorie and protein targets?

Yes. The app proposes targets from your goal, but every number is yours to override, protein included. Coaching adapts around the targets you set, not the other way round.

Does my cycle data leave my phone?

No. Optional period tracking puts weight in context: water retention before your period can add 1–3 kg on the scale, and the chart marks the window so a jump reads as physiology, not failure. That data never leaves your device: not to our servers, not to cloud backup, never to the AI. If any code ever tries to send it, our test suite fails the build.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, any time, without asking us. Settings → Export my data gives you a file of your meals, exercises, weights and settings (photos not included). Your cycle log exports separately, straight to your device's share sheet. It never passes through our servers.

How much does it cost?

Free every day: 3 AI meal scans (a multi-angle scan of 3–4 photos counts as two, a typed meal as half), the full diary, your own targets, the score and your companion. No card, and the only ads are the optional ones you watch for extra scans. EX is S$6.98/mo (about US$5.50), and subscribing during launch keeps that price for as long as you stay subscribed (list price S$13.98/mo, about US$11; S$54.98/yr, about US$43), with 15 scans a day, restaurant menu scanning, meal ideas for the macros you have left and a weekly AI report. MAX is S$19.98/mo (about US$15.50): real companion conversations, unmetered AI, no ads ever. Subscribe from inside the app; prices show in your local currency on the store sheet.

Which platforms are supported?

Both. Android is live on Google Play and iOS is live on the App Store. Install straight from your store, no invite needed. Free to start on either.

Does it track more than calories?

Yes. Alongside calories, protein, carbs and fat, TabetAI tracks fiber, sugar, saturated fat and sodium, each with a sensible daily target.

Can it help me watch my blood sugar?

Yes. Turn on glycemic tracking in Settings and TabetAI estimates a glycemic index for the foods you log, with a per-portion glycemic load on the EX plan. These are rough dietary estimates, not medical advice, and should never be used to dose insulin or manage a medical condition.

Can I use it to gain or maintain weight, not just lose it?

Yes. Pick lose, maintain or gain at setup or any time in Settings. Gaining turns your calorie budget into a fuel target with surplus math and gain-pace tracking; maintaining keeps your budget at your burn.

Which languages does TabetAI support?

English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, including AI results, coaching and notifications in your language.

Can it plan meals ahead, not just log them?

Yes. The day planner lets you plan up to a week ahead, save repeatable routines, copy a past day, and let the AI fill the gap in your remaining budget. Confirm a planned meal when you eat it and it becomes a normal log.

What is the Balance Score?

An end-of-day grade, D to S, that rolls calories, protein, fiber, added sugar, salt, plants and your movement into one read on how balanced the day was. It can never be gamed by under-eating: eat too little and it caps low. Every line of the breakdown carries its own tip on what to improve. Once a day ends, its grade locks like a training log.

Can I actually talk to my companion?

On the MAX plan, yes. Companion chat is a real conversation in their own voice: they know your day's numbers, remember what you've told them, take photos (“should I eat this?”) and voice input, and can hand a described meal to the logger. Guardrails keep them a warm food-and-fitness friend rather than a general chatbot, and they don't scold.

Why TabetAI over the big-name trackers?

The big database apps make you do the work (searching entries, guessing servings), and the local plate in front of you often isn't in there at all. The photo-scanner apps do one trick and stop at a number. TabetAI reads the food, then coaches: a Balance Score with receipts, targets that adapt to your weight trend and your real steps, a confidence rating on every estimate, cycle data that stays on your phone, and friends who see your meals, in four languages. And the scoring never rewards starving yourself or ranks anyone by weight.

Does calorie logging really work?

Yes, and you can check every citation. Food logging is the most evidence-backed habit in weight management: in a major trial, people who kept daily food records lost about twice as much weight (Hollis 2008, Am J Prev Med), and logging more often predicts losing more (Harvey 2019, Obesity). The Balance Score grades against published guidance: The Lancet's fiber meta-analysis, the WHO free-sugar guideline, the AHA's saturated-fat advisory and the WHO 2020 activity guidelines. Weight projections use peer-reviewed energy-balance modeling instead of the 3,500-calorie rule. Even the friends features follow the data: dieters who joined with friends kept their weight off far more often (Wing & Jeffery 1999).
